HYDERABAD: A 1.5-year-old girl tragically lost her life on Tuesday after falling into an uncovered manhole in the Soochi Para area of Shah Latif Town. The incident has once again put a question mark on the performance of the local government and its multi-billion rupee infrastructure projects.
According to the grief-stricken family, the toddler was playing near her home when she slipped into the open drain. Despite immediate rescue efforts by local residents, the child could not be saved. The body was later recovered and shifted to a nearby hospital for legal formalities.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the locality, with residents slamming the municipal authorities for their criminal negligence. “Billions are spent on the local government system, yet basic safety like covering manholes is ignored. Who is responsible for this innocent life?” a protester questioned. The tragic death has led to calls for an immediate inquiry and strict action against the officials of the relevant municipal department.
